Living the LAST Moment by ~BestFriendForever:iconBestFriendForever:

Living the LAST Moment
by: Christina Tersero

taking too long
                                                                      forgetting to breathe
                                           nervous habitneed to breathe
shaking all over rocking rockingrocking
back and forth...        hiccup  hiccup hiccup
tears nothing to hold to
no arms to run to       taking too damn long       breath
in out in out in out out oops. need to think
need time to think        running too fast
no air no air no air

COLLAPSE

Laying  here, here on this cold concrete floor
                           breathing, who knows how long
there is sunlight                                                   live for the moment
enjoy it                         this may be your last
enjoy it enjoy it                even if even if
your broken                trust the sunlight
               even though you’ve been betrayed
by your own self                                   is that who you run from?

CoughingCoughingCoughing                     throat too soar to cough

but he was always there

you run he runs with you
you cough so hard that your stomach lets loose he cleans you up

and says he’s there
there for who                        he’s there for you

Head burns, coughing goes on

You can’t trust your body, your own home, but
you can trust him                     to clothe you when your naked
to sing a soothing melody when silence hurts your ears
to call you beautiful when you’re ill and sick and your eyes are sunken in
He is always there!
He helped you live for the moment, told you life was for today         But this day, in your final battle                       He can help you not

but you have his words and the memories he helped you build

Shivering stops eye lids droop  feeling stops
to keep you strong
a happy thought a smile
so AIDS doesn’t overwhelm
your last moment to live for

breathing stops

This poem was inspired by RENT, and I am sure you all can guess which pair. If you haven't seen it, then you need to so you can find out. He he he. This poem is also based on my sister who has AIDS; she contracted it from a blood transfusion. But no matter what, one must remember that these things aren't the end of the world. Every moment counts and is important. No day but today.

I like the use of italics between thoughts and actions. *grins* <- Although some people use that, the way that you used was very legit. And cool. I liked it.
*hugs* To you and your sister. May she live well and in peace.

:wow: Woah. That is a very, very nice poem. The way you spaced and placed your words was really effective. It kind of has a universality to it, it could apply to anyone really. For me personally, the guy she leans upon has deserted her in her last moments, leaving her to the final end, but that's a depressing look at it. Although I tend to dwell on the depressing. :D

I REALLY liked the lines;
'Laying here, here on this cold concrete floor
breathing, who knows how long
there is sunlight live for the moment
enjoy it this may be your last
enjoy it enjoy it even if even if
your broken trust the sunlight
even though you’ve been betrayed
by your own self is that who you run from?'.
I think they touch me more intensely than the others, because they seem to be really relevent to my life at the present moment. Lovely imagery in the poem throughout; I gotta go check out the rest of your gallery now! =)

P.S. That quote of yours is pure truth; and it terrifies the hell outta me.

Visit my gallery please; I need and want comments, people! I also do my best to return the favour. :D

The fact that a believer is happier than a skeptic is no more to the point than the fact that a drunken man is happier than a sober one.
